White Tara is a female deity of the Tibetan pantheon, born from a tear of Avalokiteshvara, the bodhisattva of compassion. The statuette stands on an oval base ringed with lotus blossoms, and is slightly bowed, giving the impression of movement. Her head is adorned with a crown and pearls in flames. Her chest and arms are decorated with numerous necklaces and bracelets; the lower part of her body is shrouded with a draped skirt, bound with a belt with pendants.
