Ink and colors on paper.
Signed, with a total of four seals of the artist.
Born in Nanjing in 1934, Yang Yanping is one of the most distinguished contemporary ink artists of her generation. Having worked in the traditional mode of expressive painting (xie yi), she has developed techniques including crumpling the paper and soaking or pressing inked paper on a previously painted surface. Compositions of amorphous shapes suggest imagery landscapes: looming mountains, distant vistas, and shifting sand dunes made out of textures and brilliant colors.
Formerly the property of the Dr. K. S. Lo Collection.
