OTA JANECEK (1919 - 1997)

Oil on canvas, 181 x 267cm, signed and dated lower right: Janeček 62. The largest work from the cycle Shapes (1961-1963), which XXX relates to Janeček's early Cubist period. Henry Kissinger, the former American secretary of state, was interested in purchasing this work, even going so far as to signing a purchase agreement in the amount of one million Czech crowns, but for unknown reasons, the purchase fell through. The work is from the collection of the artist's family.
