A RARE CARVED WOOD HEAD OF GUANYIN

The head is carved in the round from a single trunk section, the full face with straight nose flanked by wide arched brows above heavily lidded eyes, the lips gently indented to provide a benevolent expression, the features all framed by pendulous ears and neatly-dressed hair, pulled up beneath an elaborate tiered crown, centered with a round mirror and decorated with polychrome.
