A RARE AND LARGE FIGURE OF MANJUSHRI

Finely cast and modelled in bronze repoussé seated in vajraparyankasana on a double-lotus pedestal, the right hand holding a flaming sword over the head, the left hand held in vitarka mudra. A lotus spray supporting the prajnaparamitasutra resting on the flower head at his left shoulder, the face flanked by pendulous earlobes and set with a benevolent expression, crowned with a separate five-leaf tiara enclosing the hair coiled into an elaborate chignon and falling onto the shoulders over the celestial scarf, the graceful body bedecked in jewels and necklaces.
