Franz Hartmann (1697 - 1728)

Franz Anton Hartmann was the son of the famous Czech painter Jan Jakub Hartmann. His favorite theme were idyllic landscapes inspired by Jan Brueghel the Elder and Roelandt Savery, supplemented by fine staffage. The presented painting is a typical example of this: A densely covered landscape with a river or lake and a couple of houses, featuring a figural gathering including Jesus Christ healing the sick.
